Isaias Melo-Lizardo, M.D., is originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He attended medical school at the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo. Dr. Melo completed his residency training in family medicine at East Carolina University/Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, NC, and later completed a rural family medicine fellowship at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN. For the previous six and a half years, the Melo family has lived in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic, where he did medical mission work at a clinic he helped start while in medical school.

Dr. Melo is married to a fellow family physician, and he and his wife have four teenage boys. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and following Major League Baseball to see how the Dominican players are doing.
