J. Henry Young, Jr., Ph.D., was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in South Carolina. He attended Erskine College for 2 years and completed his undergraduate education at Appalachian State University 1974. Dr. Young earned his Masters degree in clinical psychology and worked with Family and Children Services at Piedmont Area Mental Health Services, Monroe for two years. He received his Ph.D. in counseling, human services and studies from Florida State University in 1981. Before joining Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency as Director of Behavioral Medicine in July 1996, Dr. Young worked at Piedmont Area Mental Health Center, Concord, and his practice, Carolina Child and Family Services.
Dr.Young's special interests include professional wellness and his hobbies are singing, traveling and playing guitar.
