Mark D. Robinson, M.D., a native of northeastern Connecticut, attended Brown University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He received his postgraduate training in family medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. Following residency, Dr. Robinson was assigned to Ft. Gordon, Georgia where he was a member of the family practice faculty at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

Dr. Robinson came to Charlotte in 1990 when he joined the Family Medicine Residency Program at Carolinas Medical Center as full-time faculty obstetrics and research coordinator. He joined the Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency Program in July 1995 as Associate Director for Education and Research. He became the Residency Director in 2001. Dr. Robinson was elected to a national level office on the Board of Directors of the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors in 2004.

Dr. Robinson has published original research articles on the treatment of nicotine dependence, smoking cessation techniques for primary care physicians, and other clinical pharmacology trials. He founded the Cabarrus Nicotine Dependence Center and served as its medical director for three years. Dr. Robinson served as the course director for the first Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) course held in North Carolina and for the first ALSO course at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord, North Carolina.

Dr. Robinson and his wife, Karen, are the parents of two children. Dr. Robinson enjoys cycling, lapidary, sailing, and travel.
