Kevin E. Burroughs, MD, originally from South Carolina, has lived in North Carolina since 1982. He attended high school at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, then graduated from Greensboro College with a B.S. in biology with honors.

Dr. Burroughs completed medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, then went on to complete a residency in family practice and a fellowship in sports medicine through the Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, NC. Following his fellowship, he was appointed as the Assistant Director of the Moses Cone Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship. He served in this capacity, and as the Team Physician at Elon University, until August of 2003 when he accepted the position of Director of Sports Medicine at the Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency Program. In his current position, Dr. Burroughs teaches in the Residency Program and directs the Sports Medicine & Injury Center.

He is active in resident education and has published several articles and book chapters on both family medicine and sports medicine topics. He is the team physician at JM Robinson High School, at Catawba College, and is a consultant for athletes at all schools in Cabarrus and the surrounding counties.

Dr. Burroughs was named as the 2008 Sports Medicine Person of the Year by the North Carolina Athletic Trainer's Association. He is very active in the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine serving on teh Board of Directors, and serves on both the North Carolina Medical Society Sports Medicine Committee and the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Advisory Board.

Dr. Burroughs enjoys outdoor sports, particularly golf; cooking and music. He, his wife Julie, and their daughter live in Concord.
